San Marcos Golf Course Chandler Az is one of the oldest course’s in the valley.

When San Marcos Golf Course opened in or around 1913 they seeded the course with Bermuda in 1914. This event marked the first Golf Course in Arizona with any grass.
They planted hundreds of Salt Cedar trees on the course, which make a great natural barrier/hazard. I have lost many a ball, and had many of my shots stymied by those Monarchs. The course doesn’t play all that long. 6,641 yards from the tips. The problems lies in the size of the greens.
Go ahead and play the whites your first time out, if the course isn’t hard enough, play the tips on your second outing. Don’t get fooled by the irrigation ditches running across a few of the fairways. They give alot of grief to first time visitors. When in doubt, lay up.
Over the history of the course, there have been many famous people visit this course. Al Capone, numerous actors and celebrities. Rumor has it a few Presidents have enjoyed the hotel and golf cub, and challenging design that this historical golf course provides.
I have not played on the course since they finished with the renovation. It won’t be long though. Summer Rates are always much more affordable than in the winter.
Below are all the homes for sale near or on the course. Feel free to do additional searches using my Web Site.
